Second Proposal - The Anti-suicidal Stand

The Anti-suicidal Stand

One million people commit suicide every year!* I plan on reducing it to ZERO.

As the name suggests, my proposal focuses on ensuring that the depressed don’t miss out seeing the brighter side of struggling and the hardships life offers. Struggles never come unaccompanied. It brings along faith, determination and the sweet voice of hope that whispers in our ears that “success is near”. Sadly in today’s age the strugglers rather than focusing on the brighter side, get along with the pessimism of not having to achieve anything.  Unfortunately, they miss the word “yet”. Every dark tunnel has a light in the end.

And, to spread this message is exactly what I’d try to achieve.

Major points

My proposal follows the following major points:
  •          As per current statistics, the ratio of suicide among the youngsters is higher than the rate of suicide attempts in the older aged people. And this is the reason my major emphasis will be on preventing the conflicting emotions among the youngsters i.e. majorly university and College students.
  •          College/university based interventions will be held among various Colleges and universities to increase the anti-suicidal stand awareness.
  •          Complete and proper counselling sessions will be arranged on monthly or yearly bases.
  •          We will ensure that the students are delivered “pre-emptive interventions rather than reactive.
  •          Not only will the students become aware of the anti-suicidal stand but the parents will also receive education on how to keep a balance between entertainment and the studious stress. Parents will also be encouraged to keep an eye on their children’s daily activities and their community to ensure they are not up-brought in a negative environment.
  •          We will continue spreading the word through pamphlets, digital and social media.

The much needed cause

It is an alarming situation that not only our country suffers immensely, but depression is spread all around the world. It is no longer just an emotion or a temporary sentiment of sadness.

It’s an illness.

And, my proposal’s all effort is in ensuring that the roots of depression are nipped in the bud. Even if my lectures and awareness change the mind and bring the light of hope in even a single heart, I’d consider it an achievement for a lifetime. Although certainly, I plan on doing a lot more than changing just one entity.
